RAFII ARCHITECTS INC., established in 1985, was the first firm to design and build major mixed-use and residential projects on the North Shore of False Creek, greatly contributing to the neighbourhood’s revitalization.
After becoming a leading firm in downtown Vancouver, and across other areas of the lower mainland, RAI has since expanded to design many successful projects elsewhere in North America and beyond. RAFII is particularly active in the design of high-end, mixed-use, and high-rise residential projects, and has designed an impressive portfolio of trend-setting buildings over the last 30 years.
RAI’s proven ability to work with city officials, challenging design criteria, as well as clients demanding programs have resulted in a repeat client base of some of Vancouver’s best-respected developers. 80 percent of the company’s work is for repeat clients, and the word keeps spreading.
You could say RAFII has also shaped Calgary’s sense of place, as he was the Design Architect for CALLA, LUNA, MARK ON 10TH, NOVA, STELLA (all for Qualex Landmark), DRAKE (for Grosvenor), and WATERFRONT (for Anthem). Foad Rafii has had more influence on Calgary’s architectural look than any other architect over the past ten years. Perhaps, we should rename the Beltline “Rafiiville.”
